      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

The point is that the deepest secrets will get out. If it's not through the wiki, it will be through chat.

Or forums. But yes, that's been my point all along. To be cliche, "Information wants to be free."

In any case, I think I just tried to parse the sentence oddly.

Are you suggesting that recipes can be sent through chat, but not statistics?

Edit, don't bother -- I don't want to be trolled into this argument. It's not even the point of my message. I was simply suggesting we may want to consider having spoiler sections in the wiki. I'm not going to argue about what should be in the spoiler sections, and what should not. I'm merely suggesting a way that we can compromise.

I'm not being aggressive am I ?

I just meant recipes don't turn the whole game into a numbers thing where people say "dig at level 47 for the highest percentile chance of finding nickel"

I think all of the recipes.should be added because you were totally right. Sorry I didn't elaborate, I'm using mobile phone :/

I'm not sure TFC has a "dig at level 47 for highest chance," as I don't think the Y value has any impact on ore distribution, other than "occurs in layer 1/2/3/4" (where 1 is the bottom 40 or so blocks and 4 is dirt). And even that is a little fluid, I believe.

So even having on the wiki "only occurs in layer 1" (or similar) isn't really that much of a numbers game.

Aggressive? No. I just felt like you are trying to open a can of worms that I worked hard to step around.

I'm just sick of the discussion of whether a particular piece of information should or should not be on the wiki. There's no way to reach agreement there because it's a matter of opinion. This argument will last forever if we keep trying to persuade each other that their opinion is incorrect.

My whole point was that we shouldn't be drawing lines in the sand about what goes in the wiki and what doesn't. We need to find a way support spoiler sections. After we have that working, and see what it looks like, then we can discuss what should/shouldn't be in the spoiler sections.

Here's an example of spoiler sections on another mediawiki site:

http://vanishingpoin...diaWiki:Spoiler

Using spoiler sections would help keep the pages from being to daunting to players that don't want too much data, yet still allow complex information to be seen.

This is getting ridiculous and unrelated to the ore now. Bioxx himself has said, this is NOT to become a numbers game. It's final, and not going to be changed. No spoilers. We're not posting that information and if it gets posted, it gets removed. If you want numbers, you can get them yourself. There's a reason there is a small durability loss for imperfect smithing, it's to show you didn't get it perfect. So try and do better. Just handing out the exact method to make perfect tools removes the learning.

As for the wiki, I think it's to be treated as the game's instruction manual (albeit incomplete and not 100% accurate due to its nature). It's a guide, not a walkthrough.

The information that (to me) seems reasonable would be, as in the anvil, the top button moves it a little, and it moves further with the lower buttons, increasing with each motion. A number such as 1, 2, 3, or 4 would be a no-no.
