      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Do map seeds work for TFC?

I wanted to start this thread, because of a little issue i have with the seeds section...

You know, since i found the mod, i was always finding some post somewhere talking about an extremely nice seed -specially, one with supposely big mineral deposits-, tested it, and found the same external apparence, but different rock layers and ores. Always. I even tested most of the seeds in this forum's section, but not even one of them seems to work properly.

That's why i want to ask: Why is this happening?

A quick guessing i make right now, is that maybe rock layers generate after the world randomly, a little like how trees generate in vanilla minecraft (The tree's position or existance differs between two worlds, regardeless of the seed.). May that be the issue? :\

Probably the layers/data layers are random over the seed and not static.

Just asking, but were you using the same version as the person who posted the seed? since the ore gen is constantly getting tweaked.

Or maybe since the removal of the biomes, it's as you said. Cause I believe they were working once the sync between server and client got fixed.

Yep, i always check what's the build the seed is in before using it. Even if i didn't, the seeds gave "equal" worlds: same mountains, same holes, same general shape of the world around me. But then, checking the rocks, i found different ones.
