      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Deep caves?

hi im just downloading the newest version of this mod because i loved TFC and i wanna know how it has evolved...

but now i remember i had one complain in a older version of this mod is that caves were fairly rare and when i found one was disapontly short....

so i was wondering...is easier find deeper caves or i should just dig under my house to find good ores??

i would also like to know if there is a lets play series or a mod spotlight with the newest version of this mod so i can keep the track of the new features added while i was gone

About caves, there are few near the surface, but the basics of caves are thus:

Softer stone-types generate larger caves, softer here refering to sedimentary stone...

The deeper you go the bigger they become

mostly they follow those principles, then you have the underground ravines and rivers that also bring more life to the "underworld" of terra firma.

Well they can certainly get large (seen below), but that doesn't necessarily mean that they're worth exploring. The one shown below I used like half my iron armor, who knows how many torches and and on one trip (I think) probably almost an entire stack of apples, and all I found was a coal deposit and some useless minerals (if not less).

But on a slightly better note (still no ores), I've also found a water filled ravine with lapis and also a large deposit of coal in the bottom.
