      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

House Ideas/Designs/Styles

What types of shelters have you built? I can't find ideas for a home anywhere, so I figured I'd ask you guys.

You can use this format to share your builds:

I like to use raw logs as a south of outlining frame for the house, and use a plank color that looks good with it for the walls. Since I am evil, i do usually make giant red castles with flames and death surrounding it, but wooden cottages are nice.

My first shelter was underground and built with hands and no tools. I was making new rooms only when I needed them, and when I ended it, it looked awesome. It was like a castle, but underground. Now I have another style.

We should make a thread for everyone to show their designs, and collect them. We coulud use the thread for inspiration.

You can find some designs from me and Cidd here, by the way: http://terrafirmacra...-a-neat-design/

I did see that thread. If I draft up some sort of format, would you be interested in helping set up a design thread?

Sure. It wouldn't have to be extensive. Just so that we can collect designs in an organized fashion. Maybe make the designer tell something about his design, what's it for, what blocks he used, etc.

How's the one that I put in the OP?

I like how he prepared a nice format for everyone and people just ignore it.

He put it in AFTER you and everyone posted. No one has made a house idea/suggestion since he edited the OP with the new format.

I typically design my structures with efficiency and utility in mind, not so much aesthetics. I'm working on that though, because whenever I lead a team in a minecraft server people get mad at me because I accidentally put it across that THEY can't decorate either ;_;

I tend to build in fairly austere shapes (cubes, pyramids, ect), but try to choose a variety of building materials to stay away from living in an ugly box. This is expecially useful because I don't have to find a large supply of one particular material in order to complete the structure. It also gives it a slight appearance, depending on how its done, of arrising from the surroundings if that is what I am looking for at the time. Sort of, bringing order to the chaos of nature. Perhaps most unusually I tend to stray from using stone except in the lower levels.

Ocean Crossroads

A small bridge based town of one that supports a bridge running from the spawn continent to another further north. This is the main home where I live, but there is also a tree field and two guest houses for people who travel through the area.

I've used willow planks, white elm planks, willow support beams, and oak stairs. An eventual barracks and vault will be comprised largely of basalt and willow planks.

Including both north and south bridges, the main home, the guest houses and the island terraforming at the center, it took about 1.5 days worth of work (including establishing metal industry for tools), so maybe a 3 of 10 in difficulty.

I have a huge interest for the ancient celts. and that culture just absolutely goes hand in hand with this mod!

So i just HAD to build my houses to look similar to that of the celtic round house. Have a screenshot!

It doesn't look spectacular which is exactly how i like it. modest and homey. i don't really like building huge castles and ram everything inside. i'd rather have one house only large enough to fit its purpose.

And what neolithical celtic village chief would i be without my very own stonehenge? it serves as my forge.
