      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Version Numbers

Bioxx: I noticed that as of v53 you're no longer adding a letter for the smaller patches.

Since major feature releases tend to break things (including maps) and have plenty of bugs, I feel it would be very helpful to use separate values for major releases versus smaller changes (whether that is 53b, 53.2, Beta 3 Build 3, or whatever).

Please consider changing your versioning scheme.

Except the problem is usually the first release, not any of the subsequent releases...

That's my point - you can no longer tell from the version number whether this is a "first release" or a "subsequent release".

Then be cautious?

Wait an hour after a release, check the forums, game breaking bugs will be abundantly obvious, also, the whole damn thing is in beta, so you should assume first that it will break everything.

The game is not complete. We are all beta testers. At one point, I was in awe about how Bioxx could release an update where it seemed quite obvious he never tested it for game-breaking bugs, then I realized, we ARE the beta testers. WE test the game so HE can fix the bugs quicker. That is always why I will only ever play the latest update, because the more I play it, the more bugs I find, and the faster they get fixed.

But, as others have stated, if you'd rather play the game for fun and entertainment, wait until you see subsequent updates bringing in less features and instead fixing more bugs. No added features greatly increases the chance of a stable release for this mod. Not once have I seen huge features added and no game-breaking bugs for many releases thereafter.
