      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Cows, Pigs and Chickens nearly immortal

14 posts in this topic

having come from 58e to 66, i find that the animal mob health is a bit excessive.

Cows withstand 2 stone axes and about 40-50 hand combat till i give up.

On a pig, after the first axe broke i didnt bother going any further.

Tryng ti kill a chicken just for fun, by hand.... 60 hits later, he laughed at me..... a CHICKEN! its a small feathered bird-type creature that i used to kill as a youngling... was never that hard!

on the serious side.... seems to take more effort to kill them than they are worth.

make a knife, takes 3/4 of the knife to kill a cow.......

Really, man? Javelin throw for the win. Won't take more than 2-3 throws.

I agree with the chickens being too difficult, though. I could kill a chicken with one hand behind my back. I think 60+ punches to its face ought to kill the damn thing. Cows, pigs are a different story, but chickens? Come on, lets nerf that shit.

Punching and tools are no longer effective as weapons i TFC. It is highly advised to carry a few javelins and knives around with you until you get your first sword.

And also, I highly agree with this. I never go anywhere in TFC with out my trusty Steel Sword and four javelins in my hotbar. Quick tip:

Javelins auto reload as long as they are to the left. If your hotbar is like this (j = javelin, s = something else):

j j j j s s s s

Then, selecting the first slot, you can fire, and the next one auto-reloads for you. Also (this might have changed, IDK) but javelins do the same amount of damage whether fully drawn back, or only a little. so just right click four times, rapid ifr javelin.

I actually did that when I was 12. I was very gullible.

But they should be fast. IRL pheasants and quail are actually pretty fast and feisty. They're also hilarious.

How did the cow respond to that?

It swung it's head at me and then a group broke off of the herd and kind of chased us. I say 'kind of' because it was a slow motion sort of chase. More like a threatening advance.

I reckon a cow, even though they seem like docile and peaceful creatures, can fuck you up pretty bad if she felt threatened!

Especially when you're 12, and there's ~12 of them.

I understand punching not being effective, but why would axes not be somewhat effective? It's a sharpened egde and a stone axe certainly isn't built for extreme combat, but it should definitely be on par with a stone knife.

Apply a stone hammer liberally to a cow's head, pretty sure you'll still make progress.
