      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

I've been making a bloomery on

TFC Beta Build 69 For MC v1.4.5

and it's not working. I've used both kinds of design and I tossed the ore and charcoal in and nothing happens.

Here's what it looks like:

Is that dirt on the bottom of your bloomery? And you cant smelt ores in there, also, you don't HAVE to use bricks, you can use loose rocks.

There are some rules to build a bloomery:

  • First you need the bottom block made of stone or bricks;
  • Then all the bloomery must be made of stone or bricks;
  • You need to place the bloomery block in the 2nd layer;
  • The first layer must be 3x3 stone or bricks;
  • The bloomery's max height is 6 blocks. If you make a 7 blocks bloomery it still works but it doesn't full the 7th block of molten metal, then building it 7 or more blocks tall is useless.

I've tried replacing the bottom layer with bricks, the bloomery block did place, but still whenever I throw anything in there it's like there are just items on the ground.

I can't place the bloomery block. I have a 3x3 base of stone bricks, but the bloomery won't let itself be placed anywhere.

You need more than the base - you also need levels 2 and 3 built on all four sides, leaving open only a single block on layer 2 where the bloomery block goes.

That does mean you need at least one kind of stone that does not adhere to gravity (bricks, raw or smooth) because it must fill the spot above where the bloomery block is meant to go. The rest can be built with cobblestone, but not that one block.

I usually tend to use bricks for the entire thing, just for the looks. Particularly basalt if I can find any.
