      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

What, 30 MiB/s is not enough for it? Are you posting detailed galaxy maps over there by any chance?

Finding out wether you are in an eclosed room or at the woods can be tricky, if you want to keep your game smooth. ATENTION: GEEK TERMINOLLOGY FOLLOWING:

I like the idea of checking if you are under a tree/shade... not sure how much lag it would cause if you had alot of players on and it checked often.

That's why I suggested the possibility of just checking for an enclosed room and storing that "space" in the door's data. Only have to check once, when the door is placed, and then just adjust the players temperature while they are inside. Obviously that wont work too well if shade is taken into account while exploring....

Still might be an idea worth exploring if there are any future plans for housing...

Thing is, it is not only hard to find if a room is enclosed, if you want to store that data, a lot of memory would be needed. Checking at real time with a greedy algorithm does not waste memory, and it is quite fast also.

Agreed, especially if you try and keep track of all blocks composing the enclosed room (which I had in mind). Was worth a shot anyway :)

Mastropiero's method really simply mimics natural actions, simulating them pretty well I think.

I've thought Temperature should be a little like light values except slower, air, water, lava would all have a temperature and pass it along to surroundings, heading up.

Though, sadly, I'm fairly certain even if infrequent the calculations involving all open space and liquids would perhaps cause a slight degradation of performance.

But then again I can run a server with 1.5GB's of ram which could easily be expanded to 16... would it be worth it for most people, probably not, but I'd like to see it.

Another random thought... there could also be hot springs? Pools of warm/hot water in various spots in the world. Although you would need a way to visually differentiate them from cold water.

This is an extension of Murphy's Law: Hot Glass looks the same as Cold Glass.

Jokes apart, i like the idea, and some "vapor" should help with that.

Well, there is an ongoing thread about salt water. I don't think it has been posted in for about..a week or two, but hey.
