      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Clay overhaul: Ceramics, molds, and more! Warning: Long post

33 posts in this topic

Bump.

I completely agree, not enough attention has been paid to clay. I like the new brick mechanic, but historically bricks were also made from clay, as were food storage units, plates, and cups. The use of ceramic cups completely predates the use of glass. Which by itself needs an overhaul, but that's another thread.

Does anyone know what could be used to make the pottery wheel turn?

This could be another device that could be powered, by a wind or water mill (if they get implemented)

Looks like the devs liked the clay overhaul idea :)

I was thinking something like this but with a bunch of different colors and a texture that doesn't look like crap, like maybe glazed ones with a wavy line down the middle like in Link to the Past.

I suddenly had an image of every player with a Link skin smashing these pots looking for emerald rupees.

1) Double posts can contain different content - they are still double posts. Don't do them.

If you double post because you are using an inferior browser, that makes you unfortunate. If you double post to prove a point about how it's 'okay', that makes you a douche. Lrn2ForumEtiquette

2) Loving this thread hardcore. The ideas, the formatting... with a little more content, OP could be almost Jed-tier.

This item is then crafted with the appropriate anvil plan to create a [item here] cast.

Sculpting block:

Made by putting a clay block into the potting wheel without a plan and clicking any 3 buttons. When placed in-world, it turns into cubits like chiseled stone, which can be removed by right-clicking with a bare hand (yielding a small clay lump) or added onto by right clicking with a small clay lump. 2 full 64 stacks of small clay lumps can be placed on a potting wheel with no plan and turned into a clay item (the ones that drop when you break the block).

The cubit clay sculpture can be picked up instantly with a bare hand and retains its cubit data as an item. After being glazed and fired, the finished ceramic piece is placed as normal, and retains its previous shape.

All I want for clay is an ochre-coloured clay. It's a pretty colour.
