      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Terrafirmacraft Launcher

18 posts in this topic

If there have already been posts about this, and I missed them, I am sorry for repeating posts.

Has there been any talk about a Terrafirmacraft launcher? Similar to the Technic launcher or the Feed The Beast launcher, so that all the mods could be easily added to the game file?

I have had plenty of experience with moding Minecraft, but it seems that adding Terrafirmacraft is always the mod that gives me the most trouble.

I think it would really add a lot to the mod and save a lot of people time.

Thoughts?

You missed a lot of threads in fact. But i won't bother you with that... Someone else surely will, though :

Whatever, i honestly wonder why so many people seem to have problems with the installation, when it's so easy... I at least have never had problems.

I fully agree on this. TerraFirmaCraft installation is extremelysimple. Just drag and drop the folder into the modifications folder, as long as you got MineCraft Forge and PlayerAPI installed, that is.

Oh and:

I made a nice little post on this somewhere... let me go find it...

EDIT: Here:

I honestly don't get how people find installing ANY mods hard..? Even *hard* to install mods like SEUS or Minema are horrifically easy to install. All ANY mod's install instructions are install dependencies (in JAR), run MC, put mods in mods folder. DONE.

The only things I can see making mod installation hard is using mods that are incompatible with each other or using the wrong version of Forge or other dependency. For the former, there is always a list of incompatible mods somewhere (this is the only real issue I can see). For the latter, JUST READ WHICH VERSION YOU NEED!!!!

In TFC, it says clearly, Built on Forge v 6.0.whatever.blah.blah and Player API,vblah.2 (the blahs and whatevers represent numbers and stuff). But all in all, mod installation is crazily simple and really consists of Drag and Drop.

And anyway, read this topic, about Tekkit, but still a launcher: http://terrafirmacraft.com/f/topic/2658-tfc-as-a-technic-pack-entry/page__hl__tekkit

Before AtomicStryker made a vastly significant update on Dynamic Lights, the installation was so very obtrusive and intricate for I.

Fine. SOME mods might have been hard to install, but tbh, that is maybe a handful out of bajillions... :P

I really need to be educated in Internet lexicon; I cannot understand this kind of slang, quite frankly, :(.

I already know what the term 'bajillion' is. It's the Internet acronym slang that I don't understand at all.

P.S.- I know a few, though.

Then, for you and others who are not good at it, I shall use full (non-abbreviated) things. ;P sound GOOD?

YES!

(Pay attention to the term; it's a return joke!)

as much as I am against installers(all of them), and my belief they promote ignorance and stupidity, I have to agree that we could use one.

sure, aside from basic API install which requires modding the Jar(a process so easy the 6yo can do it) and that followed up by a drag and drop into the mods folder(6yo kept trying to put this in the jar... I told him to do it another way but he caught on).

we need one on the principle that people want to have a one click solution to everything. I highly disagree with the sentiment, but tell that to the thousands of users who say otherwise. lets get someone to make the damned thing so we can stop seeing thease topics pop up once a month.

Or, we could go bug ForgeCraft about them not having an auto-install for something really easy.

The issues I am having seem to be with ForgeCraft. I am using the recommended build (6.4.0.395), but after adding the ForgeCraft into the jar, Minecraft just gets stuck on the loading screen.

I've left it to see if it was just slow, but it sat like that for hours.

I agree that moding isn't that hard, and I've installed plenty of other mods before. It just seems that this one always gives me the most trouble.

Does anyone have any thoughts on why ForgeCraft won't install properly? (I'm on a mac btw)

Edit: I'm not saying that I want Terrafirmacraft to be part of the Technic launcher, just to have it's own. No other mods. Maybe it could have it's own texture pack too? I really love this mod and I want it to stand out from the other tech mods.

I have no trouble installing TFC. However I don't think I'd object to there being a launcher, not only for those who fail to install it properly, but just for my convenience.

I think I got it to work now. I found a jar tool that seems to have finally installed ForgeCraft properly.

Still think a launcher would be a good idea though. Just sayin :P
