      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Traveling far distances, memory leak?

4 posts in this topic

I was trying to travel to the point at which the temperature reaches 0, to see if I could find snow or ice. The game uses more and more memory as I go, until it eventually crashes.

System specs: Nvidia GTX 690 x2

i7 3770 @ 4.5Ghz

Plenty of RAM.

Is it a problem on my end? Is there a way to set more resources to Java?

Made it to the snow biomes. It rains below 0 temperature, which destroys the snow. Snow also forms over rocks.

Terrain generation is really awkward when you get below 0 temp. The terrain gen tries to place lilypads on ice, which instantly pop off when you load the chunks.TiagaIce Oceans do not form. Snow never regenerates, ice never regrows.

How much RAM do you dedicate to minecraft, and how? i give it 1gb and it goes smoothly, and i never had that kind of troubles.

try giving it more RAM either through a BAT file or through a launcher, i use magic launcher.

Or you can try to give it less RAM so garbage collector is kept on its toes. Your CPU should handle this just fine, Minecraft is memory intensive, not CPU intensive program.

By the way, memory leaks could be caused by several dozens of reasons, and hard/software configuration you gave us is nowhere near sufficiently informative, even if you're running minecraft on tear-clean PC and not using any mods apart TFC requirements and their versions are exactly as recommended.

As I recall the problems with snowy areas are related to Forge and Bioxx is just waiting for them to fix it, could be wrong don't quote me on that.

What would be most helpful to us is the crash log in question, how long you have to travel before it crashes, and if it still crashes if you don't travel.
