      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Bug With Sluices

7 posts in this topic

Ok so whenever I get sphalerite from a sluice and take it out first it doesn't let me shift click. Now the real bug is hard to explain so I shall say it how I came across the bug. So I was taking some sphalerite out of my sluice I had gotten 3 sphalerite. I realized when I tried to stack them the number disappeard so it acted like I only had one sphalerite. But then i right clicked and it duplicate the one sphalerite making as many as I wanted. Then I got my 3 back and kept the others. Later when i stacked my original 3 with the fake ones all of them except 1 disappeard. So I lost 2 and can no longer duplicated them which is VERY annoying that I lost some of my sphalerite.

I had this bug in b69, but with cassiterite. I had one time when I think I got about 3-4 that disappeared when I tried to stack them into a stack of the maximum number (which I think is either 8 or 16 with small ores).

However, after this fact (and once before it) the ones that disappear seemed to be phantom ores that didn't disappear from the sluice inventory when I shift-clicked them. Sometimes I notice right away that it didn't go from there into my own inventory, but sometimes I have not and when I return there is seemingly a new small ore there, but when I shift-click it it disappears into the current stack (which for me most of the time so far doesn't amount to more than one).

If they disappear, they're probably phantom ores.

Keep tabs on how many you can confirm you are getting and see if they are indeed phantom ores or not.

I think I got something similar with ceramic molds. I don't know how I did it, I just noticed that they weren't stacking and were just disappearing into a single one.

Also, sort of on topic, but do sluices use up the ore in the ground? Or do they make ore nuggets based off of the ore without using it up? I don't really get it and the wiki doesn't help :(

Sluices create ore out of thin air, so long as a single block of ore exists within its detection zone. Once you mine out all the naturally occuring ore a sluice will no longer work, but until then it will continue to violate the laws of thermodynacs.

Well...it's not out of nothing... you put gravel in and get ore out :)

Noticed the same pattern. Found a workaround that may at least reduce frustration until bug is fixed. Posting as well since workaround may help Devs figure out the glitch.

Manually remove ores from sluices and place into empty inventory slots. Don't use Shift Click to auto move/stack.

Manually move the ore from inventory to empty slots in a chest. Still avoiding Shift Click.

Once in the chest, you should be able to safely shift click to auto move/stack back to your Inventory.

After the stack has been 'chested' once, it seems to work fine afterwards.

No guarantees of course, but this has worked flawlessly for me so far. Hopefully it helps someone else.
