      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Missing Chunks When Cutting Willows

13 posts in this topic

I can reinforce this too, I kept falling in :( . Although I'm not sure it was caused by willows, because there were several chunks missing elsewhere, and glitched chunks in the fruit tree orchard. Might've been a problem with the server.

Also, hello tree!

Same problem. Maybe old-fashioned axe heads went bonanza, I dunno.

Could it possibly be the type of axe being used?

I'm using a copper axe and don't have this problem. (B74 chopping a willow tree grown from sapling)

Maybe it's because of stone axes and different code for those. It supposed to have a chance of wasting logs so maybe that goes wrong. In SMP anyway.

And after a quick re-log everything works again. The chunk is restored.

I am unable to reproduce this problem. I need more details on how to reproduce. The stone axe handling is simple so I'm sure its not that.

I haven't had this problem on SMP or SSP as of yet... any more information you can give?

I believe it only occurs when trees grow from saplings -- not ones that are generated in the beginning and are then cut by a stone axe. For me, it has only happened with Willow and possibly Hickory.

Same thing happens for me as well, i can attest that it seems to only occur with planted trees. i dont recall having any chunk glitching until after i started planting sapplings. also, it doesnt glitch every time, its very random. but i would say at least once every 10-15 trees cut. it glitched out while using a bismuth axe. just got bronze, so i'll test it out with that asap.

B74,

Forge 650.486

player api 1.1

rei's minimap

optifine_1.4.6_hd_u_a2

smart moving

smp

edit: confirmed it still glitches with a bronze axe, possibly a scythe as well, will test more.

edit2: forgot to mention i've been chopping down maple, willow, and sequoia mostly. i havent noticed any one being the the issue specifically.

Couple of pictures:

For 2 times now I got kicked automatically by the server by cutting sequoia (dunno if tree type is relevant), but at least 1 of those was natural, so I'm not sure if this is related to this bug. While doing this i got disconnected from server and can't ping it for some time then I can join and play normally for some time. I'll report if this occurs again, maybe just server issue.

I have also seen it occurring in area where trees haven't grown from sapling. The area's only trees were willow.
