Glowstone temp fix

I've had some players on my server ask for glowstone. Since there's currently no way to get it legitimately, It would be cool to have an option for the map gen to place glowstone instead of sulfur, at least until there's a use for sulfur or another way to get glowstone. (or perhaps just have sulfur drop glowstone dust instead - that might be an even easier change)

I have high doubts the Developers will implement your suggestion, SpeedDaemon. You are the administrator of that server, correct? If so, then you do have access to server commands to get glowstone, is that right?

I would suggest the same as Sda209; use admin commands to get glowstone.

Offer to trade it for gems.

With that he only had to create a recipe for glowstone he thinks will be balanced enough for his players.

I know, but changing a drop item might be a simple enough change that it would be a more elegant work-around than spawning stuff in and trading.

pretty recessed, or hidden lighting would be the correct answer. because i was the one that was pissed we couldnt get glowstone and offered to go out of my way to get some. be it building for the community, farming, mining, or what have you. i happen to enjoy glowstone a lot. and dislike the use of torches even more than i like glowstone. save for when i'm exploring a cave i dont want to see a torch.

on a side note i happen to like that ad for that guy's custom item mod thing. i had to really get on speed's ass worse than anythin just to get a little tossed into the caved adjacent where i happen to live on that server. if he was able to add a custom recipe then maybe i would have to ask him more. and as an admin i wouldnt mind seeing the poor dood not have to work too hard. seeing as he has enough to worry about while he builds up his own town. otherwise the idea of modding one aspect of the game to suit what would seem like a host of others that miss a bit of the normal game would be nice. personally i think glowstone should just grow in deep caves near lava deposits, or just in caves in general.

and yes, yes i know i can use jacks or torches for hidden lighting, but not for recessed, glass covered lights.

that is pure bitchen magic you got there man. personally i wish we could make nails out of any metal type that is say.. t1 to say the least, or maybe even t0. then we could nail them into v./h. supports, or combine them with lanterns to put them on v./h. supports.

Why not use world edit to replace every single sulfur ore near the playable regions of the map into glowstone.

i just finished a little modding to make the nether work in tfc if that helps with the glow stone?

hey, how about instead of making glowstone blocks and dust generate, we make glowstone into luminous crystals that form in deep caves?

Yeah, I agree with the glowstone growing in deep caves idea. That would be really nice actually.

Just use minetweaker to add a recipe that allows you to craft sulfur and redstone or something to make glowstone. It would require everyone on your server to get minetweaker, Minetweaker tends to be useful in the long run anyways.
