      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

The worst luck!

Sooo.... getting to the copper age proved to be rather difficult for me in the new world I created today, regardless of the fact that I spawned in basalt with copper being the first thing I found with some near-by Cassiterite. There was also clay and sequoia near my spawn as well! so naturally it only took me a few hours to get a copper anvil... then literally 2 mins after placing the anvil it started raining, and after I left my storage shack and passed by the forge lightning struck the ground and destroyed some dirt near me. I turned around and nearly shit myself when I found that my anvil had been destroyed...

I figure with all the stuff that went right with this seed there was bound to be something that went wrong...

Edit: it was a temporary forge set-up I hadn't gotten to the roof...

(as Steve was unaware of the possible danger from the heavens.)

You're anvil must have been pointy so it ionised the air around it and generated the perfect lure for the magic white blanket that teleported it ontop of the nearest tree to you're right !

I once spent days in-game looking for a pig on a vanilla SMP server. I finally found one more than 2000 blocks from my base, only to see it struck by lightning and turning into a pigman. Some days, your luck just runs out. The next day I ran 500 blocks in another direction and found 7 with no lightning :).

I wouldn't have been as upset if I had been able to make a couple of copper tools first... My anvil existed for about 2 mins.

Yeah, the anvils seem to be pretty fragile (you know, since a huge hunk of iron is fragile, right?). I had my iron anvil blown up on two separate occasions by creepers. Needless to say, I moved it inside after the second attack.

It does make sense from a gameplay perspective. Anvils represent your technology level, so they should be fragile, so you need to protect them. The fact that you moved it inside proves that the system works, it forces you to take security precautions.

Well hudge chunk of metals aren't fragile but im sure that an explosion that can blow up 5m(cubic) of soil and rock could destroy them.

Nah, it's more a thing of game balance versus realism. It's not believable that anvils can be so easily destroyed, I agree, but it does provide extra incentive to protect your anvils, which is a good thing. Some bad creeper blows could equally destroy it.
