      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

I've been watching Spumwack's TFC let's play and I have to say, some of his buildings are ugly, bloody painfully ugly. So I've told him so and as it's easy to just sit and criticise without fear on the internet I've put together a slide show of what I've achieved. It's all legit, apart from some water being fixed. I hope you'll take a look and tell me what you think.

I agree with Spumwack not being the best builder, it annoys me sometimes. Your buildings range from okay to decent I'd say. They are pretty consistent, which is important to me. The main keep has some really pretty parts (loved the wooden stairway for example).

I do think you need to work on how to make roofs. Almost all your roofs are stair-based and yellow. I think there's a few more interesting designs that you could cook up. The temple roofs are decent, I like those. There were even a few angles of those roofs that wowed me, especially from a fair distance. Up close they get a bit chunky in proportions, but that's hard to avoid when making big buildings in Minecraft (it's possible though).

Some of your pathways use random colors of stone and my OCD is begging me to fix that!

The main reason for always using birch wood stairs is ease, none of the other base woods seem to work as vanilla recipes. The secondary reason is lag, too much carving seems to strain my machine and is noticeable in areas with columns and such. Thanks for the constructive criticism.

It's deliberate, both to use up all the different stones without having to quarry great expanses of ground and to break up the path. The back story for monastry has pilgrims bringing stone to help in it's construction.

You can turn Aspen and Chestnut into vanilla stairs too, but yeah, I do get that point. Lots of carving can get a bit laggy.

I didn't know that, I've tried oak and pine and only got a weird single thickness object a bit like what you remove whilst knapping, off on a tree hunt now.

They're certainly fantastic. Were they built in TFC as there's glowstone and the leaf blocks look to be behaving differently to how they do in my world.

It's is vanilla. We could do better things in TFC, but you couldn't do the leaves, the glowstone, etc.

I've done some research and it seems like this is the origin for this building style:

Those are some swell houses, but why do you care about house prettiness when there's surviving to be done?

Well passed mere survival now, I think my cathedral will attest to that (nearly finished).
