      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Ultimate TFC?

I'm not sure I believe him yet but a FTB forum member by the name of kev12east has claimed to have made the entire FTB Ultimate pack compatible with TFC using Custom NPCs. Most of the community is skeptical and/or angry but personally i believe i may need new pants.

I understand its not balanced but we have the tools to fix that.

here's my thought: if i wanted to play FTB instead of TFC, i'd be there wouldnt i? :D

besides, from my first vid i instantly liked TFC, i've seen plenty of FTB and still dont have a positive or negative opinion, which in itself isnt good

If I were going to make a mod pack for TFC, It would have the following mods and nothing more:

Custom NPCs (for server play or at least make custom recipes to have some of the potion/enchanting stuff available)

TradeBoothMod (for server play using Custom NPC coins for currency)

Simply Horses (or Simply Terrafirma Horses... which is due to be released soon)

Laterns Mod (if they can figure out how to render fat using forge and fire pit.

Leather Water Sack Mod (Specifically made for TFC)

Smart Moving (including all mods its dependent on)

The Elegant Punt (including white hall if its available)

Medical Mod (using TFC configuration setting)

REI, NEI and Convenient Inventory.

Matmos (optional)

TFC is about survival or at the very least stone/bronze/iron age era game play. I could see something like an industrial age mod that might include a forge upgrade (IRL this is called a blast furnace) and would be able to process ore even more efficiently)

I'd like to see some blocks that allow for more efficient processing of resources. Like drill presses, circular saw machines, steam power... that sort of thing. This would be something optional since a lot of people tend to be TFC purists.

I can confirm that it's possible. I'm currently playing TFC with Thaumcraft, Thermal Expansion, IC2, Buildcraft, Factorization, Railcraft, Steves Carts, etc. However, instead of Custom NPCs I'm using CubeX's custom stuff. It's essentially the same thing as you're just adding recipes that let you get all the stuff you need to make those other mods work. The world gen obviously doesn't work, but you use minerals, gems and other normally useless things to craft things from what would normally be world gen for the other mods...as well as nether resources.

The gameplay is very rewarding as it still takes you a crapton of work to get to the iron age and the scarcity of resources makes it very important which tech mod toys you decide to try to make first. It's a lot of fun if you find TFC alone a bit too hardcore and you get bored of it after a while.

The one mod that doesn't work that well is Redpower 2. You can get it to work but something goes wonky with the generation of volcanoes and it causes lava tubes all over your map making it pretty difficult to play.

You could just not load the Redpower World module, since worldgen doesn't work anyway. The rest of Redpower should still work perfectly fine without it, so long as you provide alternative means of obtaining the necessary resources. That's why it's modular in the first place.

I thought so too and tried it but it didn't work. I didn't bother trying to figure out why it didn't work. Could have easily been user error on my part. I might revisit that some time in the future.

Edit: Ok, I just tried it again and it gives an error message saying Redpower-Machine wasn't found. Machine is the part that has world in it. So maybe the latest version of RedPower isn't modular anymore? Or at least it won't run without the Machine part?

That's entirely possible. She didn't want people to be able to disable volcanoes and rubber trees. From her EAQ:

  • “Volcanoes and trees…” Are not quite finished. I intend to pattern the placement code, and improve the volcano. 1.8’s chunk handling broke both pretty seriously, causing sharp slices which are especially noticeable in volcanoes. And no, I will not provide options to disable them.
  • “But the volcanoes…” Are staying. And they’re going to get better. The validation will improve they will always have a big lava pool under, instead of a puddle. They will get bigger, they will stop losing edges, they will appear in clusters rather than evenly all over, they sometimes have calderas full of lava.
In other words, if you want to use her mod, you use it the way she tells you to and get it the way she gave it to you.
