      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Is there a way to get rid of a branch on a tree whitout chopping the tree down ?

(Also can people chop down a house made of logs using an axe and destroy it like a tree ? )

No idea on your first question. The chain-reaction break of tree blocks is a bit finnicky sometimes. I've had it happen where I'll be hacking at one tree, and then the tree next to it comes down too.

However, log blocks placed by the player do not have the chain-reaction break of trees. Each one has to be cut down individually when they're player-placed. It actually makes logs a really good choice of building material in TFC multiplayer, as wood blocks are fairly slow to cut even with a decent axe, and impossible without it. Griefer-resistance 101.

There are three types of logs. Horizontal logs, vertical logs, and natural logs (not the math kind). Trees are made up of natural logs, which have the chain-reaction you mentioned when they are chopped down. The logs you can place or either the horizontal or vertical sort, and so don't have the chain-reaction when you break them.

I found that saws work very well (better than axes) if you want to break down player placed logs.

"It's log... it's log... it's big, it's heavy, its wood!

it's log, it's log... it's better than bad, it's good!"

Don't forget the G.I. Log, now with Kung Fu grip!

I have actually noticed, since HF10, that sequoia leaves no longer disappear. They just float up thar in the blue when you chop the tree down. White Cedar has done it to me a couple of times too, but Sequoia seems persistant.

It's the ghost of the mighty ancient tree. It'll haunt you. Any day now.
