      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

TFC Launcher - Unable to load game

5 posts in this topic

I'm aware that there has been a very recent fix to the launcher, and that those who reported problems are advised to check we are updating to the new launcher correctly.

So what I've done is delete my TFCLauncher file, and re-download from the website.

Then the launcher pops up, I click options and tell it to force update. Click on, and then login with my details.

Everything seems to download fine (no errors), then the launcher closes and the game never starts, no minecraft window or anything.

I've then tried to adjust the installation directory in the options, and re-forcing the update.

Again this results in the launcher just closing when I click login.

Can't run in admin mode as its a java app, I've tried everything I can think of.

Any ideas?

O/S: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit (SP1)

Resolved

Deleted TFcraft folder in %appdata% and re-applied force update

Optifine Fixed by downloading the correct version for the Minecraft version.

I believe it needs to go into the jarmods folder found in the bin folder. Then you need to edit loadorder.txt and add the exact file name to the bottom of that list.

Had the same issue after using the May 30 launcher. No issues prior to May 30 version. Issue persisted into June 2 version.

After playing with it for a while, I found that the launcher had somehow swapped to 32-bit Java as the default 'run with' option. The failure to run MC was being caused by a combination of higher memory options I had set in the launcher and 32-bit Java. 32-bit Java doesn't work with those higher memory options, thus fails to start when they're set. No error or anything, just "logging in" then closes launcher and nothing.

Also explains why deleting the %appdata%/tfcraft folder would work as a 'fix'. Once deleted, your higher memory options are reset to defaults which work in 32-bit Java.

Anyway, I resolved by re-installing 64-bit Java. After that, I was able to set memory options where I wanted them and launch without issues using June 2 launcher. Could probably just manually change the default 'run with' program option, but I still had the 64-bit install .exe for java.

Hope that helps.
