      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Size of Veins?

4 posts in this topic

Hello TFcrafters,

I started playing TFC a view days ago.

When i started, I was looking for a good location to settle down. when i found igneous stone next to a beautyfil lake i started my first crappy base camp.

After exploring the area around me, I got lucky and found a ravine. I started to dig down carefully and found some cassiterite, enough to make a few ingots.

Now I was all fired up and started to look for ores underground. I found copper on the surface and dug down. But my prospectors pickaxe kept beeing stubborn and told me there were only traces of copper. An hour or so and 2 pickaxes later i gave up and started looking for another location.

There I finnally found copper, and the vein was HUGE. I had to run back to my base several times to empty my pockets and get new pickaxes :D

Here is my question: Was I just extremely lucky to find so much copper? there were about 440 blocks in my vein. how big is a vein in average?

To the devs:

Keep up the good work. This mod is awesome and i like playing it a lot!

greetings from germany and please excuse a me, if i made a view mistakes in my post

They tend to be smaller in surface, and bigger deep underground. At least it's what i noticed.

In the last copper vein i found on surface, I had to do 2 trips to move everything.

underground i found a 10 block high, maibue 40-50 block long and large vein of different ore (mostly useless, but still).

as for the pro pick, you might want to check the guide i wrote in the guide section of the forum to find ore quicker.

You're lucky that the ravine had ore in it. Nearly all of the ones I explore are barren. But to answer your question, you probably won't find any veins of 9 pieces of ore like you would in vanilla MC. Veins are hard to find, but reward you big-time when you find them.

Wait until you hit your first "very large" coal deposit. Those things can be friggin' huge!
