      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

[Bug] 2x2 tree spawning on water instead of dirt in ocean

3 posts in this topic

I've found a 2x2 tree in an ocean biome that is just hovering over the top water layer in a shallow area surrounded by deeper waters. It may have spawned on top of a floating dirt island that has since, before my visit, collapsed to under the water, but if not something is broken. I can upload a screenshot if needed. I've not found any regular trees like this.

(If possible I'd say make dirt in a 3x3 area surrounding a tree, or 4x4 in case of a 2x2 tree, not affected by gravity due to the tree roots, this would fix this problem and also make perfect sense, analogous to dirt with grass on it not falling down instantly.)

I bet originally there was a cave cavity under the dirt/sand and the dirt/sand collapsed leaving the treehovering.

I've seen this as well actually, but only with Sequioa... not Kapok.

I just tested the cave underneath theory on a b76 swamp-sequoia area.  There wasn't a cave or open area underneath the tree.  The tree itself was at sea level.  One water block directly under the tree, dirt under that.

What's odd to me is that I've triggered landslides in the past that caused the dirt under a normal tree to fall, which triggers the death of the tree (from the bottom up over time). These hover-Sequoias will just float there forever.  Almost like they're treating the water as solid enough to root in.

Not really a big deal though.  Looks weird, but they break like normal when axe'd.
