      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

[Suggestion] Ceramic Kiln

11 posts in this topic

Ok I just watched the 0.77 preview and I noticed a lack of some sort of advanced furnace for ceramic's.

AFAIK there were kilns that were build out from clay, filled up and covered with wood with then was set ablaze. This way the clay kiln burned out itself and becomes a tool to quickly create lots of ceramic crafts in one go. The thing is it would need to be possible to enter those kilns in order to place items in there. Im pretty sure there were kilns like that IRL. Throw in bellows, it may be a good idea to incorporate them

Of course it should be possible to build such kilns out of bricks.

Im not expert by any means, but I think that pottery should be expanded upon a bit more.

Here's how I imagine such kiln:

I agree with you. However, I like to view it as build 77 is the start for pottery. Build 78 for example, can be the "Addition to Pottery" build. I do love multiblocks, though. They're kind of TFC's thing. :D More of them would be awesome.

make a one deep hole in a brick floor, change the bottom of this hole by a brick block. place at least 4 block in + shape around. chisel down one of them to 1/8 of a block slab.

Now you have a nice looking pit kiln, you can jump in and out, and do more chisel work if you want it to be fancier

P.S. as far as I know, 78 will be world/ore gen update.

Beehive kilns are confirmed to be added, we just didn't get around to it for build 77 since we wanted to release ASAP.

You have siltstone floor, dolomite wall, and a chert step to enter. It work with slab chiselling, but might not work if detailed.

Alice may I have your permission to use these images as an example of a way to fancy a pit kiln on the wiki?
