Wiki Consolidation

With build 77, there have been many update to a lot of pages in the wiki.

 

Some consolidation work have been done and I would like to have people's opinion on the subject.

 

One of the consolidation example is the ore page that gather all the information in one single page instead of one page by ore and mineral.

 

Do you like it ?

 

It could be done for other pages, like metal page.

 

For example, this is a proposed consolidated metal page will all info on metal working (all but alloy) : http://terrafirmacraft.com/wiki/TFCraft:Wiki_Edits/Sandbox There might be missing elements.

It could replace the metals page (http://terrafirmacraft.com/wiki/Metals), and all the individual metals pages.

 

I think that if we decide to consolidate, it should be done for all the wiki, not only selected area.

 

The advantages ?

- All the information at the same place 

- Less pages to edit in case of major update

- Less pages displaying the same content (for example, Bronze and Black Bronze page are basically the same).

I just want to note that even with the consolidation of pages, the search bar function would still be essentially the same. For example: If you search for "Cassiterite" using the search bar, it will bring you to the correct table containing cassiterite information on the consolidated page.

I have a feeling that separate pages can still be useful to have just in case. But I'm for consolidation.

Would be great, but make sure that things are split up enough so that when you read something, you know exactly what it is refering to, not "so i just read all that, but is that under copper, or wrought iron?"

The "problem" that we can face, is that you will find the same mechanic for metals like copper or wrought iron, so to give them a section in the page is hard. So on the page, there is nothing specific to a single metal, as they are almost all the same.

I am all for consolidation. Right now the wiki often loads incorrectly for me. Having to load fewer pages would help considerably. Having fewer pages to update would also be helpful. All in all the wiki sort of disappointed me and anything that can be done to improve its usability should be done.
