      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

[Solved] Placing Ceramic Vessels on Planks Crashes the Game

7 posts in this topic

When Placing any ceramic item on top of wooden planks placed at an intermediate block level (i.e. placed at Y: 100.5) causes the game to crash. I wasn't going to report this bug but it has also deleted the level.dat file as well.

(I'm new at this and not down with proceedures, so go easy on me)

Which version of TFC are you using? This should have been fixed in 77.14.

Fixed ClassCastException when placing pottery on top of firepits. Pottery now expects a block underneath it with a solid top face.

I just did some testing in 77.17 and could not get it to crash no matter what arrangement of planks and ceramic items I used. The items simply would not place.

If you are using 77.17, please post a screenshot and crash log if you could.

77.11, I didn't realise that it had updated :P

Are there any issues updating i.e. rendering old worlds useless?

I may have found another bug though if it is still present in the latest version.

Back up your save folder just in case, but I'm pretty sure 77.11->77.17 is safe, I've been updating the same world from 77.12 up to 77.17 with no issues.

Report back if you can recreate this crash in any way with 77.17

That crash report is from 11.17. If I can work out how to upload a picture I will.

The reason you are still crashing is because the pottery is still above a non-solid block. The update only fixes it so that you cannot place the pottery, it doesn't necessarily resolve issues from already-placed pottery crashes. If you know how to use MCEdit, you could go in and remove the crashing pottery that way, otherwise you probably will have to start a new world.

Must have been that as I couldn't repeat it afterwards (although the crash was after I tried placing it again), unless the pot was already there and interacting with it crashed the game.
