      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Improve Cooking

7 posts in this topic

I've noticed myself experimenting on SMP cooking food as some sort to represent what I can do, same with other players that discovered recipes for potion effects, some public them, and other are selfish guys that don't want to share the water breathing recipe :c Cooking is really fun as it currently is, but why not better?

Cooking and alcohol brewing acts s the brewing machine in vanilla minecraft, but due to the idea of experimenting (and recipes varying per seed) make this much more interesting. But getting to the point, my suggestion is to improve cooking (I'll go to alcohol later) It should be more detailed and 'sophisticated' for example, you actually need to cook food, or you need to make things such as tomato sauce, etc. Then, you'll have to put them in a bowl; i.e I made some pasta, but I have to put this in a bow of boiling water too cook this. I'm thinking something as something like a crucible, in which you put on the ingredients in,  you add boiling water, salt, etc. then once it's done you may be able to take the cooked pasta out, and get it on your inventory (perhaps you need to put it on a bowl, to be more realistic rather than carry spaghetti on your pockets) then, in the same or other cauldron, you can make sauce for the pasta, adding tomato puree (My english is not so good currently, if you could ignore a bit my grammar, that would be nice) herbs, garlic, onion, bacon, butter, cream, etc. Then it will be added to the pasta the same way cooking currently works.

I mentioned before some objects that are not in game such as butter, however, I introduce a few things in which how you make them.

Cream is made by whipping the milk until you get a layer of dense liquid, it's made in a bucket, you'll get cream and milk as the byproduct.

Butter is made in a butter churn (made with a barrel, 2 sticks with a log below in game?)

bacon is made by putting in a crafting grid a knife and a porkchop

Herbs are new crop types, may be added or not.

I know this idea is more or less incomplete, I'll be adding more to this every now and then.

I really like this idea, especially the herbs, make them special in that they don't have any filling value but have a much higher chance of having good stats in a meal

I like the idea mostly, although you'd have to probably add more incentive for such the effort of making things, most people would spend an extra day working on a batch of meals that would grant a grand total of 5 minutes of speed, that would quite counterproductive (Someone could have gotten to their destination surviving off a single cow's worth of steak in the time it took to make the food). With this in mind, try to think of something much better to get out of this extra work, perhaps you could add to the many suggestions we've almost all seen about a possible nutrient system, maybe your suggestion's food could add a significant boost in nutrients, and in turn make you live much longer off of a little bit of food. Another thing to mention, a couple of those things could be seen as borderline modern, even if they are really actually ancient. It could be viewed as quite suspicious if someone walked up to another individual with a bowl of delicious noodles with tomato puree and herbs, and they both happened to be a cavemen.

Yeah i kinda agree with you.

But the ideas are great but first they need to add some kind of butchery and smoking into the game as well

I'd like to make a more involved cooking and meal system, but I don't think we're planning on implementing anything in particular. We do want to change things, which is why the clay pot was added, but we really had no idea what to do with it when we added it.

Need some ideas?
