What kind of rails were you thinking about? Like Minecart rails? It would be pretty hard to code blocks that degrade every time a minecart runs over them without causing a fair amount of lag. Not to mention there could be a fair amount of disasters from random sections of the rail system degrading and disappearing without anybody fixing them.

I think we can test for lag if place a lot of detector rail.

If it was worst we can choose lifetime for rails

It will be funny and stimulate to uses standart rails on heavy directions.

That generally won't move on its own, even downhill, unless something pushes it.
