      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Speaking of natural pesticides, I know that you can keep ducks with your crops(well, rice. Don't know about other stuff, but I think it should work), and the ducks will eat the slugs and caterpillars and whatnot that harm the crops.

 

Couldn't we have a system where having chickens or pheasants with your crops prevents/reduces the chances of pests?

I don't know if this belongs here, but what about more food preservation options? I know you can salt raw meat and store it in a cool place, but I think it would be great to have more options while staying in bounds of realism. What about a smoker for meat products, or some sort of smoking pit in the ground, and possibly some kind of drying system to obtain dried fruits and vegetables (of course you could dry all your meats as well)? Currently I think foods for the most part last an abnormally long time and that the time could be shortened so that these preservation techniques aren't over powered. I don't know, just makes preparing for winter all that much more fun!
