      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Build 79 minecraft version

9 posts in this topic

So, I know that 78 is releasing on 1.6.4, and I totally agree with that decision.  But when it comes time to do 79, can we just skip 1.7 altogether?  I'm really excited about the custom block models, but since vanilla is pretty much unplayable after trying TFC, I won't be able to try them out until we get to 1.8.

well i don't care what version of minecraft tfc is running on but custom block models seems awesome. :D

another note however if there is a huge jump to 1.8 that might take a ton of time just to port over the game let alone make use of the new stuff  >.>

I think it's fairly firmly based on 1.7.  Which was itself a huge change.  I know it will take time, but I think custom block models will be worth it.  I'm very excited to add custom leaf and grass blocks.  And stones.  And everything!!!!

Hopefully it won't be TOO laggy...

The custom block models in 1.8 are just for the vanilla blocks. It's a resource pack feature and still has a fair amount of restrictions. This change doesn't suddenly turn Minecraft into Gary's Mod where you can turn anything into any shape.

Oh, I didn't realize that it was only vanilla blocks, I'd been hoping to add it to the resource pack I'm making. :(

What is this Gary's Mod?  It sounds amazing!

Ah, okay, I'd thought it was a minecraft mod.  It's more or less 2nd life?

I've been looking, and all I can find is that the models are limited to blocks (no entities).  But I can find anything that prohibits mod blocks.  I'm probably just missing it.

The last I checked, they hadn't even finished allowing block models for all of the vanilla blocks, which makes me assume that it's a block-by-block basis, and the mod would have to duplicate that code on its blocks in order to implement it.

Ah, well, it would have been nice to see.  There are so few vanilla blocks in TFC to work with... which is, of course, a good thing!  But still, I hope we can get this too someday.
