      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

[Solved] Extreme Lag

11 posts in this topic

Hey guys, I'm not sure what the format for posting non-bug related issues are, so if I'm doing wrong, someone tell me so I can do better next time.

So the problem is, I'm getting so much lag that it is unbelievable, and I have no idea what is going on, I would love some help if anyone can help me with this. This is build 78.1 and it is hurting my computer, even after I close Minecraft my computer just freaks out and freezes for around ten seconds at a time.

Thank you

Does this occur on build 78.0 or 78.1, but not immediately after you start playing?

Build 78.1 and it got worse over time, I think it may be something like your memory leak problem, but it seems like it's a bit different

If you're on a Windows operating system, could you open Task Manager, and go to the process for your Minecraft client, and tell us how much memory it's using?  From the Applications Tab (if you're using Windows 7), you'd right-click on Minecraft, and hit 'go to process'.  You might need to hit "view" in the menu, and select "Select Columns" to get the proper column to show up in the process list.  Private Working Set is the one you're looking for.  It's the amount of memory reserved by Minecraft that cannot be shared with other applications.

Okay, so I've just restarted TFC and it's been around a minute, but here's what you want: 1,700,000 K (approx.) and it isn't getting lower, it's getting higher, fast, so it must be the same as your problem

Aww yeah...any idea if this will be fixed in the next hot fix of TFC or something?

I have no idea.  I'm not a developer for this project.

I can confirm there is a definite memory leak running loose.

Given enough time, and while running on stock configuration and mods, the game will max-out my RAM, causing system-wide slowdowns.

EDIT: Just noticed that 0.78.2 was released.

The problem seems to have been fixed, or at least is not as prominent. I'll play for a good hour or so and then report back with results.

EDIT #2

Lookin' good now. :D
