      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

How the game looks to a new player.

I can plainly see your complaints. There is a lot of truth to what you say. Spawning in the ocean more times then you can count can deter many people. Yes the hostile mobs can lead to frustration in many situations. As they spawn in, in large numbers and are difficult to kill. With out a real weapon (Copper & Above). The world is a harsh place with out nothing. That's half the journey tho.

Long story short, TFC. Can be quite difficult and frustrating for many new players. Most of all, patience is key to survival and to overall enjoy the mod for all its glory. I'm sure a lot of people have already given advice on how to survival better. To better equip your self and many tips to help you on your journey. I am long time vetren of minecraft. I also enjoy games that are realistic. So when I found out about TFC. It was like a dream come true. I enjoy the difficultness and its the main reason why I keep coming back.

TFC isn't for every one. With changes and tweaks being made with every build. Its going to keep changing for a long time. Patience is all we can hope for, for those that are having a harder time settling down.

I just came back to TFC after about a year. Didn't have any crashes or anything, so that was nice. My first spawn was on a plain. Walked around for 45mins without seeing a single tree, so I figured; bad seed, time for a new world. Second world had everything i could've hoped for, plenty of trees (including those massive redwoods?), clay, lots of food to forage and plenty of fresh water... but completely devoid of metals. I've spent around five hours now and found 2 small nuggets of limonite, one small gold and 2 small native copper. Either I'm just unlucky or the worldgen needs some serious work. I'd also like to ask if single-player is even viable anymore? Biomes seem to be insanely large, so finding stuff for late-game is probably even worse than before (looking at those tens of kilometers of tunnels in the second and third layer gabbro...)

Edit: Just realized that my post seemed quite negative. I still consider TFC to be the most ambitious minecraft mod out there, and probably the best in it's own way. So keep up the good work. :)

Sounds a bit unlucky, but look up the b78 changes to Gold Pan and you should be fine.  Gold pan now returns a random selection of nuggets instead of ore specific to the area - no longer useful for prospecting to determine ore in the area, but great for getting Black Bronze tools very early.

Thanks. I'll try that. :)
