      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Alloy Calculator

13 posts in this topic

I got frustrated when i tried to make some alloys and messed the calculations so i made this.

You fill in the amount of metals and ores you put in the alloy and it gives you the output in ingots.

you can put either Nuggets/Poor ores/Normal/Rich and whole ingots.

the Alloy maker shows you what ingots will output and how much spare metal in TFC units will be left

put your mouse over certain cells for more info

requires Microsoft Excel (dont know what version)

Download from dropbox

Like and bump this post if you enjoyed so others could use it too! :)

PM me for any corrections or bugs

If you find any online excel file viewer that is compatible post below so people with out MS excel can enjoy.

you can put it on google drive so people can copy and use it there. it's not excel, but close enough

I checked your document and it's a bit hard to read due to the color... and unfortunately, it's locked so we can not edit or see the calculation used in the file.

If you want to share, you might want to include some indication on how to use.

Yes it work. I just said that as you asked if people know a free excel reader. Well, google drive is a bit like that.

I downloaded it, my comments are in my previous post.

There's the main table ore/units

To use it type in the number of pieces of ore you put into the alloy in the correct place (type of ore and size)

The calculations are locked and are automatic, you can only change the values of the ores in the main table and the adv. Alloys table.

The output is automatic

I'll only be able to make any fixes tomorrow when I get back home :-| I'll probably make the file unlocked (not sure why thought that's a good idea)

heh, I just ran into this myself and did a quick calculation on the back of an envelope so to speak :D Given that ore can now be poor, normal and rich, this has to be factored in.

It is factored in this calculator!, you can put in the table the number of whatever size ore you wanna put it, it calculates automatically

Tried it out, and it works pretty good. Only thing I noticed is that there seems to be some values already in the sheet that shouldn't be there. Namely ingots for a few of the base metal types. Also if your looking for a application based program that can open microsoft excel files check out libre office. Its an open source suite of software very similar to office, if not as pretty.

For some strange reason; the .xls file would not allow editing of the fields nor editing the blank cells to add additional information via Microsoft Excel.

Whenever I tried, it prompted for a password. So weird!! It wouldn't even let me see the formulas; so, I took the liberty of fixing it & removing the password.  ;)

Kind of silly to have a password on an excel file, not sure what happened. It might have just been a bug on my side.

Here is the unprotected/unlocked 'Alloy Maker 3000.xls' in case anyone else is experiencing the problem & wishes to edit the file.  :D

You can download the password-free & editable .xls here: https://docs.google.com/a/lifesriver.net/uc?id=0B1HOu-yhacFrMHM0NTFIS3ltSTg&export=download

This is hosted on my company's Google Drive, so if the link is down in the future (months or years later) & is wanted, PM me. It's archived!
(EDIT: 10/09/14@22:44— Uploaded wrong file; fixed now! I also fixed some formatting errors. Enjoy!)
