      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

I have to ask, what would you want the tornado to do? i mean if you want it to be throwing blocks all over, i suspect a lag storm, but if it were just superficial, that would be fine, but a lot of work (potentially) for little benefit.

almost definitely true. No tornadoes. They are as much a shit storm for your computer as they are a wind storm for you.

The fact that this thread has more views than the READ ME on the main page amuses me.

One: ^

Two: If Tornadoes don't happen in mountainous regions, are you implying there will be mostly only mountains?

uhh... I was referring to Japan. About 80% of Japan is mountain and forest. Tornadoes usually only form on flat, open plains, which Japan isn't very rich in.

Oh, it IS rich in planes. The only problem is that the planes i'm talking about are made out of water, and it's not rare that a tsunami strikes the island from them. but when the sea is calm, is mostly plain water :3

Yeah, but we call those http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typhoon

I sure hope that busting through to superheated lava air will create a backdraft!!!! :D

Not really... a Typhoon -or Hurricane- is something storms-related (i'm not gonna largely explain what are the atmosfere mechanics which lead to the creation of the Typhoons...), while the Tsunami is this:

And it can be provoked by underwater eathquakes.

any further questions?

I meant tornados on water.

I... think i misunderstood you o.ò weren't you saying in the previous post that "Typhoons" is the way you call the Tsunamis? that's why i answered that...

If i'm the one who misundestood, sorry for that... :

Fire tornadoes aren't large... in fact they happen in smaller spaces due to multiple back drafts. So 1 fire in a crowded Japanese home add doors, and a bit of wind, and FWOOm.

Firestorms/fire tornadoes can get fairly large in forest fires, not like a wizard of oz, suck Dorothy off in her house size, but still several hundred feet high.

Also fire tornadoes, or firestorms, don't throw stuff around, they burn at many thousands of degrees and consume everything in their path.

Though it would be neat to see one raging through a forest, i certainly don't expect to see them in minecraft.

Off topic, but 'm attempting to learn Java, and i am curious as to what development kit You dev's use.

I'm sure you were talking to the real devs, but I'll chime in and say that I use Eclipse. Some former java devs at my job (we're a .NET house) pretty much unanimously say they prefer netbeans, but there's way better Eclipse support in the minecraft community.

What about hail instead of the blizzards: it could start like snow but get to something like a hail-storm. It destroys glass and other easy breakable materials at random, damages crops on fields, hurts the player a little bit and created some snow on the ground. I think you could add it with the rain system, maybe?

Suggested, but sounds cool none the less.

Well those aren't tornadoes then. Instead of being formed by air currents and pressures, it's caused by the air pressure created by the fire. Totally different.

I agree but the clean weather mod... think about it. It's mechanics can make thinks like sandstorms possible. An overlay and random damage is good enough, I don't expect blocks to move. Also the snow can be blinding.

TFC had blinding blizzards, a few months ago. We had to take them out for optifine compatibility.

Ooooooh... That's why that mod didn't work lol. Well optifine usually tries and finds fixes for those things, hopefully it will patch that.

I've always figured thirst should be a status effect-like game mechanic. Travelling while it's hot out might make you thirsty, but it wouldn't be a meter you've got to keep full or anything like that.

I like this concept. There's a behind the scenes mechanic to the hunger system, called saturation and exhaustion. Taking actions increases exhaustion, and once it crosses a certain threshold, it reduces the saturation level. When the saturation level hits 0, your hunger bar starts jittering and you begin losing food points.

Adverse conditions (rain, snow) or extreme temperatures (hot, cold) or humidity could simply increase the exhaustion "gained" from existing sources (sprinting, breaking blocks, fighting, etc.) This would help simulate overall exhaustion from surviving in a hostile environment without having to worry about implementing a new thirst mechanic or UI elements.

Why did you necro TWO really old threads??!

I won't repeat myself, but, come on dude, we don't need these necros of really old topics. They are based off of a TFC that is long gone.

Well, Achartran, it seems like you are confused about what's a necro and what a revival ._.

What he said was a suggestion that could add to what's already said in the post, and a good one i think. Therefore, this is a revival. a "I LIEK THISSSSS" is a necro'd.
