      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

If the stones are not flat on the ground it's because you are not using fancy graphic setting. It's normal so you can play like that or try to use fancy graphics setting.

Do you still have to break them to pick them up? Do you have graphics set to fast? I remember reading that they only look flat on the ground with fancy graphics.

Edit: Simulpost...

I use fancy graphics, and the stones are round like that. That's both before and after installing optifine. What's up with that?

The stones are no longer squares bits of various size, but look the same as the texture. So you can make the difference between the sones and ore and it also allowed the devs to implement sticks on the ground and leave place to any other implementation of items found on the ground. If you do not like round stones, edit the texture to make them square!

Oh I see, I was confused after watching let's plays.

To be honest, it's quite recent, in 78.4 changelog you can see it.

"Loose rocks on the ground no longer spawn as little cubes and instead display an entity laying flat on the ground showing what item they are. This means that looking for surface ores is now far more simple as you can recognize them on sight instead of needing to run around punching rocks."
