      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Starvation

I'm really enjoing this mod so far, even with not having made it past the copper age yet.  I think my one dislike would be the dying of starvation after only one day/night cycle, seeing as how people can survive for longer as long as they have water.  Is there any way to modify the amount of time until the food bar depletes?

I don'T think it'S possible.

If you played a bit, you will soon discover that the first ting to do is to get thatch for a basic shelter and find food. If there is no food around, I consider it a bad start or even a bad seed.

Bioxx is indeed considering slowing down how quickly the hunger bar depletes as a base-line, but there are a few other things he's considering with it as well before altering the system.

Great!  Thanks for the responses.  The first day just feels really rushed sometimes (depending on the where you spawn) with having to collect everything to build a shelter and find food and a fresh water source.

They do, but obviously that has no affect on a player who has just started a new world.. since they can't possibly gain that many levels before the first night.

Well, I may agree with the OP, changing the hunger would certainly be good. I remember making some suggestions regarding new hunger system (lengthy or boring enough to be looked but not commented upon, to my knowledge) but disregarding that, there are certain issues with suggested frequency of eating that at times it's more of a bother than a challenge. I wouldn't mind even decreasing somewhat amount of wild-growing edible plants or meat from the animals for the sake of balancing being able to hold on day or two without access to food or water.

First day does seem somewhat rushed (it seemed so a bit in the past, though it's also simply a matter of days being too short, a sentiment I saw voiced a few times on the forum), gone are the days where one could take the time to look around the place or travel a bit away from the spawn without risking starvation.

Well, since I'm new, but have a lot of time to play.  I've found that starving on a seed doesn't make it bad, just go another way on a respawn. My first map seed killed me 3 times, at the begining of the second morning. Two ways produced no usable food at all. the third way I found carrots and after another 3 days I found a tree.. but the seed is very good, but that start spot is a killer. Running like mad all night, no way to fight any of the mobs, as one good hit will kill you, all for a few pieces of food.. can be fun. Also for some reason a re-creatation of a seed changes the food and animal resources?

Hunger could stay the same but when a player first enters a world he could start with a bit of food in his inventory.

Thank gosh. I'd quit playing entirely due to the frustration of starving to death constantly.
