      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

A Leaf, Shrub, or Spot of Moss from Biomes O' Plenty's Book

I'm not entirely confident that this has not already been mentioned in some form or another, though I did spend a fair amount of time perusing the suggestions area. The main point of this notion is to add some aesthetics along the lines of the aforementioned mod. For one, the existence of varied tall grass types adds quite a bit to the overall image of land generation, while it may be a discrete change. Similarly, the flowers, etc. added by that mod are quite attractive as well and the resultant variation makes everything a tad more interesting. The diversity of trees already added by TFC is spectacular, and upon first creating a world I was pleased to see a patch of goldenrod nearby, but beyond that there isn't much change in terms of plants (other than berry bushes). I have noticed, too, that the land generation with B.O.P. as well as that of 1.7 Minecraft have reasonably captured the image of realistic mountains, whereas TFC often has somewhat large floating sections or unreasonably spiked cliffs -- I don't know what extent to which that may have been intentional, as it seems some people find those formations quite appealing, but perhaps that change is not desirable to a greater populous. Overall my suggestion is to consider some of the more discrete or subtextual aesthetic improvements of Vanilla/prominent mods. I would assume that with regard to the flowers/mushrooms/moss the code would not be exceptionally difficult, though I am not especially versed in such matters and may be outrageously wrong on that count.

More flora would be nice. Extrafirmacraft adds a few for creating medicine.

I like the stubbly grass TFC has, but some 1.5 or 2 high grass would be a nice addition for prairies.  I'd love more plants, especially herbs and a mix of things that can be planted or searched for.  It would also be interesting to have plants that are harmful in some way, like poison sumac or berries (like snowberries, which aren't technically edible by humans). If you are trying to improve the looks using a resource pack that changes the appearance of the vanilla flowers might help.

You can emulate some of this by adding Better Grass and Leaves mod into your MC instance.

I really like the textures for plants in B.O.P. and I think it could be a good addition aesthetic wise.

That's actually another concept I was curious about; I do have that mod installed, yet it does not seem to affect grass in TFC. Do I need to alter any config settings? It apparently works with the leaves in this mod, yet not the grass blocks from what I have seen.

This mod uses blockId values to override default rendering. In short, yes, you do want to alter config file, it's actually quite easy. I have posted a config variant for it with TFC compatibility somewhere at one point, you might want to look that up if you don't want to do it yourself.

Have you guys met a baby zombie before? If there were 1.5-2 high grass, I'd never set foot in a prairie again.

The essential concept being discussed here is addition of more varied flowers/grass, not that of 2 block high tall grass. An example of such is attached.Posted Image
