      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Ability to spawn (almost) anywhere in the world

5 posts in this topic

Very small suggestion I guess,  but something that caught my eye while exploring is that the southern hemisphere inverts seasons, as soon as I found this out; I found a new home.

Since this  got implemented, I believe that the player should spawn anywhere, on any hemisphere, and if given the chance, much further into the poles, giving a challenge for experienced players. Nothing to fancy to explain, but I think it will be nice to have a 50-50 chance to spawn on each hemisphere.

The idea is that the current spawning latitude is friendlier towards newer players. You're in the temperate zone (yes I know right now jungles are the ideal environment but once the temperature update comes that will change).

So perhaps world gen options in which you spawn at one of the poles, or in a desert... The poles would be nutso hard starting, as would a large enough desert. Especially once temp effects players. So why force it on the poor noobs? Make it a choice. Kind of like hardcore mode.

Hardcore-spawn mode?

what about a config option?

It'd be way more awesome if we could have a button on the create world screen where we can select different spawn options, like having you spawn along the equator or on one of the poles or somewhere in-between.

I'd imagine it would be something where you could select like "Easy" "Normal" "Hard" "Paradise" "Equator" "Polar (circle)" "hemisphere" "Island" and "Totally random" where easy through hard would give you a plot of land without being to specific (Could influence resource spawning if we want to go that deep?"

Nice idea, also, instead of selecting world spawning, wouldn't it be much easier to make it vary per difficulty? i.e if one's of hard mode, there's a chance you can spawn on the southern polar areas (+18000)
