      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Ore veins (0.78.17 [1.6.4])

9 posts in this topic

Hello.

I have a question about ore veins.

Is it possible to change spawn of ores like in old TFC? I mean that it will spawn in veins like e.g. block of native cooper next to the block of native cooper. Not like it is right now that all blocks are separated by blocks of rock.

Yes. You can edit the Horizontal and Vertical Density of each ore vein in TFCOre.cfg located in your config folder. The higher the number (max value of 99), the more dense the vein will be, meaning that the ore blocks will be closer together.

Edit: Editing this config will only affect ore veins in newly generated terrain/chunks. Veins that already exist in your save will still be the old, less dense versions.

Thank you for response. I really enjoy your mod but atm it was a bit boring digging 50 rocks to get one ore. Let's try :) because of it I started plating minecraft and I play it only on your mod :)

Would adding vanilla ores to the TFCOre.cfg work? Will it crash the game? I ask because there are a couple of mechanical mods I think would complement your conversion.

Adding vanilla ores to TFCOre.cfg works just fine. That's how we originally tested to make sure that it was working.

Grant I have only asked a couple of questions so far, yet I have to say. You are the best forum admin. I have ever seen. Your friendly, very quick to respond, your responses are clear and easy to understand. Kudos to you Kittychanley! Thank you very much.

Here's a long shot. I'm assuming the pro pick is not configured to detect vanilla ore. Does anyone know when testing was done if vanilla surface nuggets were created? If so what is there meta? If not, it will be a great deal harder to find vanilla ores.

The only thing the config does is make it so that the ores actually generate in the world. The propick will not pick up on them, and there are no surface nuggets to show them down below either. The only way to find non-TFC ores that are added via that config is through brute force strip mining.
