      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Green Evergreens

4 posts in this topic

I've noticed that the trees that stay green (hence the name evergreens) have leaf blocks turn brown when the temperature drops. It doesn't ruin the game for me or anything but trees that stay green all year irl would probably look better in game if they stayed green there too. The only tree with needles that turns brown and lets them fall (that I know of) is the Tamarack, and we don't have that. Is this something that would be easily fixed?

This is true, evergreen trees are always green, like their name says. I don't think this should be too difficult, or at least I hope so. If every leaf block of every tree shares the same ID, that would be a bit difficult I think, but otherwise they just need to turn off the capacity of changing colour based on temperature and it should work fine.

They [the evergreens] still turn brown? Damn. That should only be happening when it gets dry.

The last I checked, evergreens only turn brown if the rainfall value drops low enough (i.e. a drought). Like Dunk stated this could possibly be a bug, but I had assumed that Bioxx had already fixed this when he fixed the rest of the foliage changing colors.

So do me a favor and the next time that you come across brown evergreens, hit F3 and check what the rainfall value is, not what the temperature value is.
