      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Acacia saplings

7 posts in this topic

So, I made a new world for a server. I fond jungle, chopped some acaia trees. In a proces i got 3 saplings.

After i grew them, I used scythe to get more saplings.

I destroyed all leaves on 3 trees and i got 0 saplings.

Bug or feature? Is it even possible to get saplings from not-natural spawned acacia trees?

Mods installed - TFC, minimap, Optifine.

No changes in config files

The scythe has a lower drop rate for saplings, compared to breaking it with your fist.  It sure is nice to be able to take down all of those leaves in one go, but the cost is, you lower the sapling drop rate chance.

I cheated some saplings, grew 5 more trees.

Again, i used scythe to break leaves. I didnt get any saplings..

Total - 8 huge trees - no saplings

Acacias drop saplings? I thought that was removed in a hotfix somewhere, maybe I'm wrong.

What version are you playing? What version were you playing when the world was initially generated? Acacia trees dropped saplings in the earlier versions of 78, but were removed in 78.10.

There is no distinction between a naturally grown acacia tree, and one that is grown through a sapling that a player placed. They are exactly the same. The only possible reason I can think that you are getting the acacia saplings at all is because the tree generated in a version before the saplings were removed. This really doesn't make much sense either.

The bug here is that you are getting acacia saplings in the first place, not that your newer trees aren't dropping any.

Edit: For more information on why acacia saplings are no longer available in survival mode, see the FAQ page: http://terrafirmacraft.com/faq.html

Well, i generated world in .78.17 version. Naturaly spawned acacia trees were much smaller, then grown.

From 3 grown trees i got about 70 stacks of wood, from about 5 naturaly spawned - much less (dont remember how many)

Note - i generated a world for a server. Maybe this the problem?

I can take a screenshot of a naturaly spawned acacia tree, if you want. Also, i can get a sapling from it
