So I found gold traces, eventually I managed to find an area with large gold traces and I have mined in 4 different direction until I reach medium samples and then figured out center piece of large sample. However I cannot find the very large sample any advice as to how to go about finding where the very large sample is in relation to the large sample?

Not every vein is large enough to ever give "very large sample" readings. Some veins are smaller than others, so the largest reading they will ever give is "large" or "medium" or whatever.

So how could I narrow down a search with large sample since I can't find that vein for the life of me.

Follow this video guide. Instead of looking for where it goes from Very Large to Large, you will look for where it goes from Large to Medium:

Ok well end up there were 4 or 5 piece of gold total so well meh. Was just wondering a few other random things. 

 

1) After you mine all the ores in a vein will the propick still tell you that the vein you mined out is still there like its still very large sample in the area?

 

2) Can you use lava to raise temperature of crops during winter high enough for them to not die?

The pro pick's reading is based off ore blocks found in the specified radius, so if you mine all of it out, it'll go from V. Large to Large to Medium to Small to not reporting any.

Except that this is time consuming, and it takes a lot of the durability of your pickaxe.

1.) The propick does a new scan every time you use it. If you mined out all the ore in the area, the propick will no longer tell you there is ore there.

2.) No. There is currently no way to change temperature so that crops won't freeze during winter.
