      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! Help. Animals don't drop anything.

Hello, I'm just starting out with tfc.

I watched some videos on youtube, but they're old and not up to date.

I also tried looking for info on the wiki, but to no help for my current matter.

 

I can't get drops from animals.

 

I've tried killing them with my axe, and with stone javelins, but none have dropped a single thing.

I killed a few pigs and birds, but to no effect.

 

Can any of you point me in the right direction, youtube/wiki or the likes where I can find up to date info?

Do I need a special tool for harvesting meat from animals?

Is it a bug? Do I need to restart a world?

either a bug, which I've not heard of, or you've been killing juvenile animals rather than adults. You'd definitely know it if you were killing juvenile birds, though...

This is definitely either a bug or,as the above user discussed,possibly you're killing younger animals.

Try to spawn an animal with a spawn egg and then kill it. If it still won't drop anything,then it's definitely a glitch and needs to be reported.

What does the in-game calendar say the date is? Do the animals look odd, or do they look perfectly normal? Did you get any experience for killing them?

hmm. Ok, the birds looked like fully grown ones, and the pig was the same size as in normal minecraft.

I'm trying to give myself a spawn_egg to test, but I only get the error spawn_egg is not a valid number.

 

I'm using this command from here: http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Spawn_Egg

 

/give Alendir spawn_egg 1 92

 

To get a cow egg, but to no effect. Yes I have enabled cheats.

The date was June 1st 1000Animals looked normal.Not sure if I got experience from killing them, they dropped nothing if I recall correctly, not even experience blobs.

Also the game crashed twice when trying to Save & Quit.

I installed this forge and tfc on a clean minecraft install.

Oh jeez, memory dump...

 

For starters, you wouldn't be able to spawn yourself a cow with an egg using the vanilla entity ID. Best bet would be to /gamemode 1 and then look for the grey "spawn cow" egg in the creative menu. This will spawn a TFC cow.

I'm not sure what "Java HotSpot" is, but it might be the problem. Usually when minecraft crashes, it tells you which file caused the problem. In your case, it's spat the memory state of your computer at the time of the crash.

Yeah, looks like it was JAVA that crashed, rather than Minecraft specifically. Have you been able to run other java-based applications on your system, or is Minecraft the only one that you've tried?

You crashed because you ran out of memory, the dump is nothing special.. you just grabbed the Java crash report instead of the Minecraft one. To allocate more memory you'll need to edit the profile on the launcher, check the JVM Arguments box, and put 

-Xmn1G -Xms2G -Xmx2G

inside the text box.

 

If you still crash after trying that, let us know and I'll give you a different argument string to try.

 

Once you get your world up and running again you have a few choices.

 

1. Go into creative mode and grab the grey egg that says Spawn Cow. You must get the grey one, and not the colored one. Spawn the cow and kill it to see if it drops anything.

 

OR

 

If you don't mind moving time forward into the game:

 

2. Type /debugmode into the chatbox to enable debug mode. You should get a confirmation message. Then while in survival mode, open up the calendar. You will see a bunch of extra buttons on the bottom. Click on the one that tells you add 1 year. After you have moved time forward a year, find an animal and kill it to see if it drops anything.

 

OR

 

3. Start a brand new world. Find some animals and kill them to see if they drop anything.

Awright.

 

I started up a new game, killed a deer, it dropped food, so I guess the world was bugged or something.

 

Sry bout the crash report, but I actually was looking for the spoiler buttons, couldn't find them :)I'll give the JVM thing a try, thanks for the help. If you hear nothing from me, I guess it worked out :)
