      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Tetrahedrite on Phyllite...

I found some tetrahedrite in a phyllite stone layer. Done all the cross scan with the propick and got really confused by not seeing the ores on the place they was supposed to be, then out of no where I mined one and figured out the problem. Both blocks, raw phyllite and ore block are way to similar.

 

In the image - Torch and the block bellow are raw stone, the two blocks on the right are ore blocks

This would be intentional or just coincidence?

Specifically

 

Like I said before, there's only so many shades of grey that can be used. Considering there are so many different ores/minerals, and so many different rocks that they can spawn on, obviously some of them are going to overlap. With the default texture resolution being 16x, there also isn't much that can be done to outline the ore without it getting pretty ugly. Unless you want ores that are nowhere near accurate colors (like hot pink or lime green or something), there really isn't much that can be done with the default resolution to make sure that every ore is highly visible in every stone that it spawns in.

I think it adds a nice challenge, you gotta use the propick to identify it.
