      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Only spawning far north?

This has annoyed me for a while. Whenever I start a new map, my spawn point is always negative Z and in most cases higher in value 10k.

There is any setting I can tweak to get a little closer to the equator on spawn?

You will always spawn in the Northern half in TFC. The specific range is from -3000 to -15000 Z. Exactly where within this range is entirely up to world seed, so there really isn't any setting to tweak to change it. However, you can always start a game with cheats enabled, go into creative mode so you don't suffocate or fall to your death and then do

 

/tp @p ~ ~ Z

 

Where Z is your desired Z coordinate.

 

So if you want to start at the equator, you would do /tp @p ~ ~ 0

 

There are also commands to change this location to the world spawn point, so that if you die you respawn there instead of at the original location. Once its all said and set up, just go back into survival mode, and disable cheats.

 

Edit: Please note that the formatting on this forum is weird, and the ~ are actually tildes. (The key to the left of 1 and above Tab on most keyboards).

Not only does the seed affect the spawn it also affects how "survivable" your first day/night is..

My SP world I spawned around -9500 and had food readily available..

I've watched a lot of the TFC "lets plays" and some of the spawns were atrocious ( even for those who had an idea of what they are doing)

I also started a "Lan World" with my daughter .. spawn was -3500 .. no food or animals within 700 blocks of spawn..

I'm also now playing on the Generation Gateway server.. don't know what it was like when it first started.. but again no food available within 500 blocks of spawn..

I think the "spawn" setting algorithm needs tweaking to take into account the availability of food..
