Obsidian/Nether/Strongholds

Hi Terracrafters

 

I have not had a read of the changelog for the latest build so not sure if these are already implemented or still a work in progress so here are my thoughts.

Obsidian/Nether Idea:

 

Using the basalt, chalk, diorite and andesite rocks you mine or pick up on the ground, placing them into the crafting table as a 2x2 gives could give you, Obsistone, combining 4 of those in a 2x2 give you obsidian brick (portal block) using flint and steel or fire starter to light the portal.

 

have the Nether filled with ravines just like the overworld and introducing many other ores, nether wart seeds and soul sand (warts must be planted near lava in overworld or nether to grow) and javelin skeletons in fortresses.

 

Strongholds

Just like vanilla, eye of ender are needed to find the strong holds where constant cave-in's happen, the ender portal is very hidden (must dig in a certain area, using prospectors pick to find endstone. And introducing the end as well would be a great feature too.

 

Villager/Villages

 

The villages will be kind of vanilla like but in certain caves or ravines and wearing different clothes to give them that stone age look, using the numerous rare gems you mine will be a way of currency for certain items they trade.

 

These idea's might seem kind of huge and hard to be done at first, but as I said, just a thought, maybe it can be simplified in the future.

Both the nether and the end are not going to be added to TFC any time soon. If we add support for other dimensions, it will most likely be a new TFC-Specific one, and you would only be able to access the Nether/End with the help of 3rd party crossover mods for compatibility reasons.

 

I have also edited the topic title to remove the word "Villagers," because NPCs are explicitly listed on the Do Not Post the Following Suggestions post.

It's one of his first times here though. To be honest, I couldn't really see much of that happening. NPCs would kinda screw with the solitude that TFC usually has. And strongholds are a little odd. And making obsidian out of other stones is ridiculous. Obsidian is actually a stone of its own. Not implemented in the game as of yet, but it might be at some point.

Due to the TFC torch burn-out mechanic and the existance of glowstone in the Nether, making it to the Nether would have to be made dependant on having access to Blue Steel for balance reasons

 

You don't need strongholds to get to the End. You need a enderframe portal. Which can be made to be craftable (see the Blood n Bones modpack for a example of implementation).
