Use for sticks?

Now I know sticks are useful in many areas already, but I always have an excessive amount of these due to farming of wood and getting saplings. Being able to put them into a fire pit or stack them to be turned into a piece of coal at an 10 to 1 ratio or the like might give a way to trickle some large stacks to a purpose than being chucked in the ocean.

I find sticks are rather tedious to find when starting a new world. A way to combat that would to be able to craft saplings into a stick.

I will admit they are tedious, and I would very much like leaves to fall from trees when I chop them down into a pile I could go through or they can still decay into nothing if left alone or the like... But I do find myself with alot of sticks.. I think I have around 12 stacks of them now and I am going to start throwing them out soon.. or making a lot of fire pits

Hmmm and they don't make full blocks, just "slabs"? or maybe like stairs?

If they have a UI like log piles maybe you could even shape them. do a 2x2x2 (derp?) grid to show the shape the pile of sticks should take to give us slopes on roofs, criss crosses like you see in corn fields, or what not.

Someone on the vanilla forums mentioned using wheat for thatch. Maybe sticks+wheat=new roof?

Personally, I like the current number of sticks I get because they're used in nearly everything in TFC. I'd sooner suggest increasing the sapling drop a little bit so I don't have to get as many sticks to get saplings.

I'm on the fence with wanting more sapplings dropped since in the real world, sapplings are easy to get/make but only really during the spring when the leaves are starting to sprout up on fresh branches. But it does take some work to get a sappling that is ready to plant that will grow into a tree. You can't just stick a branch in the ground and bam, so getting less saplings from the trees seems reasonable to me since there's no real work involved in getting it to grow. But that might change when they get the agriculture system they want in motion.

maybe add bushes so you dont get servers with forests of naked tree.
