      Server Move   09/13/2018

      I (Dries007) have recently taken over as main developer and server admin. This involved moving servers to reduce cost. It's likely there will be some more downtime in the future but most  things should be sorted by now. This forum is in dire need of replacement as the software is quite old and can't be easily updated. If you wish to discuss or stay updated, join our discord: https://invite.gg/terrafirmacraft.       ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

[Solved] Pickling

Have some questions about how pickling works:

First from this change log - "The initial process of pickling now takes 4 hours instead of being instant since players kept thinking this was a bug"

for me it takes days, and still nothing happen, so I reseal the brined food again every day until it works (cause I think there is a bug that causes it to never finish), for now I only managed to make 5 pickled foods, the other still in the process of *pickling* 3+ days..

 

Once the food is *pickled* can I store it anywhere? Or to have the effect on it must be stored in vinegar?

I think I figured it out, once the chunk with the pickling process unloaded, it's corrupted and never finishes.

Same goes for brining, not sure about the rest like smoking, tanning hides etc.

I know I can brine plenty of times in the same barrels, same chunks. With pickling, I got it to work when the vinegar barrel was entirely full, but it seems to be taking forever when it's only slightly less full. Maybe it needs to be at 100% in order to pickle properly?

When being in the same chunk 3 full and 3 non full barrels finished at the same time, but now I can't reproduce it at all, no idea what is going on.

Ok full barrels confirmed, I don't know how I managed to pickle in a non full barrel, but in a full barrel it's really takes 4 hours.

 

So it's a bug with non full barrels. Or is that intended?

The disconnect here is that the UI says "PICKLING" when the barrel has too little vinegar in it to actually do the job.

 

Could I request that the UI only say "PICKLING" if there is enough vinegar in the barrel to handle the food you're trying to pickle?

Ignore the "Pickling" message on the UI, it's actually not working correctly at all right now.
