      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

My world recently hit winter time and I noticed a weird graphical bug with ice (only saltwater-ice, though):

Its seems like the bug affects the ice per chunk, in a sometimes larger and sometimes smaller area.

You have to look at the ice from a certain height/angle, otherwise you can't see it.

Also, if you get too close to it, the bug just dissapears because the chunk updates I guess.Have you deleted your config files and are still able to reproduce this bug?: YesDo you have any mods other than Forge and TFC installed?: CodeChickenCore, NEI, TFCNEIplugin, Fastcraft

Do you have mipmapping or antialiasing turned on? If you do, could you see if turning them both off fixes it?

Wow, thanks for the fast response :D

I turned Mipmap levels down to *Off* in the options, but the bug still occurs.

I don't have antialiasing turned on as far as I know, but I also have no idea how to turn it off if it was on

Huh, that's odd. Could you provide the world seed as well as the exact location you are flying at where you can see the bug occur? I'm wondering if this is a machine-specific issue and maybe has something to do with a graphics card or its drivers.

The seed for the world is 3542501927594876900.

Here are some locations where I could watch the bug happen, though I think it can happen basically everywhere if there's ice:

x: 2385,   z: -14015

x: 2195 z: -14122

x: 2248 z: -13932

I also just saw the bug happen with blue ice/freshwater-ice, so the type of ice doesn't seem to be important.

Note: I'm using a AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series, maybe that helps...

I`ve had the same bug on my world. it is not static so if you move, the area also changes i think. however in my case it was a small fresh water lake so the effect couldnt be seen as well as with the pictures provided on top. I am using mapwriter or so.. no optifine.

I get the same thing on my server when i look at ice in the winter, both fresh and salt. I also about the same set of mods.

Maybe its fastcraft?

Alright, I can reproduce the bug launching just from eclipse, so I don't think that any other mods are causing it. What's odd is that TFC ice directly extends vanilla ice, and doesn't change any of the rendering code with the exception of changing light opacity for salt water ice, so I have no idea. I'm going to try covering an area with vanilla ice and seeing if this is actually a vanilla bug.

Edit: After replacing a section of the ice with vanilla ice blocks, I can confirm that this is likely a vanilla bug.

I've seen this bug many times in vanilla, over the course of many vanilla versions. I'm surprised nobody else has seen it before.

Thanks for your responses!

I guess the Minecraft team will have to take care of this then...
