      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Extinguished forge

Is there any way to restart a forge? I don't have any way of making a new one, or removing my current one, so a way of restarting it would be great

The process for relighting both fire pits and forges are exactly the same. Put at least one piece of fuel inside, and then right click the block with a fire starter or a flint & steel.

That doesn't really help me when I can't access the interface..

If you can't access the interface, then your forge does not have a valid chimney and won't be able to work anyways.

fill it with charcoal and use a firestarter on it.

I would always use regular coal for a forge

Not all players have found coal veins. You can get charcoal anywhere that has trees, which is why most players use it.

In case one has both, i would use regular coal as its pretty much the only thing where it makes sense to use it

It's an open air forge, that has previously worked.

I hit it with a pickaxe trying to remove it. Got nowhere, but now it's working again somehow

And for the people who haven't found coal, I have found 10+ visible veins, at least 3 of which were large and connected. Then again, my map has open veins all over the place.

Was it raining/snowing when you couldn't open the forge? They won't work if they are directly exposed to precipitation.

While on the subject of rain/snow on forges, trapdoors are not a valid rain stopper. So if you've trapdoored the tile above the forge block, that won't prevent the precipitation.

Also on the subject of forges and precipitation, crucibles don't stop it either. It's probably easiest to just use a chimney that goes one block over to stop the rain.
