      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Hi there! Finding clay has a couple of tricks to it. First , look at the grass. Is it green, or is it patchy and brown? This is an indication of the amount of rainfal the area is getting. You need 500 or higher annual rainfall for clay to be gererated. You can also check F3, and look for the rainfall field.

Clay has grass growing on it, so it can be difficult to see. Look for these golden flowers, which only grow on clay.

Does anyone know if that applies to peat as well ? Is there some flower that tells me that there is peat around ? Never found ANY peat.

The requirements for peat are quite a bit steeper than those for clay. Peat only spawns in Swamp Biomes, but there it should be quite common :)

[Edit:] Ah, and there are no flowers indicating their whereabouts, but when you found a Swamp, you'll likely be surrounded by it anyway ...

In the code, there seems to be a connection between peat and cloudberries and possibly cranberries as well, but I'm not sure if I'm reading it right, or if it's actually getting called, etc.

The wiki also claims that these types of berries can be found ONLY growing on peat. But considering that berry bushes are rather rare, that might not be a good way of looking for peat.

On the plus side, charcoal is very easy to make :D

It looks like whenever peat is created, it tries to generate first cranberries then cloudberries on top of it. But cranberries also get a chance to generate without restriction on soil type, like all the other berries.

I haven't seen any peat since build 78. Then again I haven't been looking for it either.
