      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

A Good Feeling

4 posts in this topic

Okay, so I want to ask if anyone else has the feeling that Bioxx and company should make a game together? Not to spoil the fact that TerraFirmaCraft is an amazing modification for the game it is for, but I just thought it would be great if eventually (let's not rush things, you guys have a long way to go before you finish the mod) they ported it over to an engine of their choice, or even made their own engine? It would mean a lot less limitations, especially if they made their own, despite the cost of development. I'd love to see how beautiful the game would look, and how awesome it would feel, especially gathering for berries and their respective seeds.

That leads me to another thought, sorry for doing a double thread like this, but perhaps they could add the inability to pick up bushes in the future, and instead have to hope for seeds when harvesting wild ones?

You know, I've always considered TFC not as a mod, but as a game that uses minecraft as an engine. I definitely think it would lose something if it stopped using minecraft's basic principles, like the square blocks. The lack of free building is what I've always felt was missing from survival games like Lost in Blue, nd is in my opinion what really sets TFC appart. That said, often I hear it said that something happens/can't be done because of how minecraft handles something. Would be cool to see what the devs could do without those restrictions. But coding an engine from scratch is hard, and takes a lot of time.

Ah I dont know ...

You are speaking of a lot less limitations, but I think in truth that would mean much more stress and pressure to make something "complete", which TFC intentionally is not. It's work in progress and changes all the time, sometimes quite a lot. You would not have all this freedom with a commercial game. Besides it would mean the duty to meet the expectations of their customers. The commercial game industry is a very harsh one and I would not like to see this pressure on our Devs, to be honest.

To give you an example: I'm a professional musician, and more than a few times I outright envy those who play music just as a hobby, just for their own and still please their listeners. It is a difference to be able to play what you like how you like in contrast to having to do what you are asked for to earn your daily bread, if you like that or not.

Do you get what I mean?

As for your second suggestion: this has been suggested before just recently, you might check the suggestion forums for that.

Yea, I've always thought this as well. Especially recently, as Minecraft vanilla has been focusing more on adventure and less on survival. Back in the early days (of both TFC and MC) the distinction wasn't as pronounced, but nowadays, they're basically separate games.
